Best Trakt Alternatives in 2026
Best Trakt Alternatives in 2026: Choose where your history lives.
Independent tracking services, optional Trakt connections and self-hosted libraries serve different needs.
The short answer
Choose Simkl for a managed movie, TV and anime library; SeriesGuide for Android tracking with an optional Trakt connection; or Yamtrack if you want to operate your own library. A different Trakt client can change the interface while leaving your history dependent on Trakt.

Before you choose
Independent service: you → a new service account → that service’s library. Optional client sync: you → a local app → Trakt only when connected. Required client: you → another interface → your Trakt account. Decide which dependency you actually want to remove.
Apps such as Cinopsys and Watcht are Trakt-oriented clients in our competitor catalog. Treat them as interface alternatives, not evidence that you can leave Trakt. Check each client’s current offline and sign-in behavior.
Before switching, save the original export, list the fields you care about, test a small sample and inspect a rewatch, a dated rating and a partially watched season. A successful title match does not prove your dates, notes or repeats survived.
Free tracking is not a promise of unlimited lists, automated backups or every integration. Avoid cancelling your old account until you have checked your new library.
Moving your history to Moviebase? Check the source and file format supported in your installed version. More imports are planned; availability can differ by platform.

Questions
Does changing a Trakt client let me leave Trakt?
Only if the app supports an independent workflow. A Trakt-required client still uses your Trakt account; optional sync and independent services are different choices.
Can I move a Trakt export directly into Moviebase?
Check the import sources and file formats offered in your installed Moviebase version. Do not assume any arbitrary Trakt JSON or CSV is accepted. Additional imports are planned.
